“I have been at Northwestern for 12 years, and I hope to retire from Northwestern when the time comes,” said Shayna Thomason.
Some might consider this a rare sentiment today, especially by someone who is not close to retiring yet. But it speaks to the value Thomason puts on her opportunity to grow professionally at Northwestern.
“I have worked in three different areas and in three very different roles. It is one of the unique advantages in working here, to continue at the same organization in new roles.”
Having taken many classes through myHR Learn, Thomason practices what she preaches. Along with those growth opportunities, her favorite aspect of working at Northwestern is participating in staff organizations and affinity groups on campus.
“Being a member of the Association of Northwestern University Women has been the high point of my time at Northwestern so far,” she said. “It has been invaluable for me to be able to further my professional development and have such supportive supervisors.”
