Whether you are concerned about a senior or adult relative’s immediate needs, are interested in learning about resources, or are simply planning for the future, the Well-being team is available to provide assistance, advice, connections, and resources to help you.

Northwestern Senior Care Planning

Northwestern Senior Care Planning provides faculty, staff and postdocs free access to unlimited telephonic consultations with Senior & Adult Care Advisors.

These master’s level clinicians can provide you and your family with:

  • In-depth individual and family consultations - Expert guidance, planning and support for you and your family members.
  • Customized clear, concise, and comprehensive action plans
  • Vetted providers across the United States - geriatric care managers, elder law attorneys, at-home care services, senior housing, adult day programs, transportation, and Alzheimer’s/dementia care.

Face-to-face senior & adult caregiver support

These sessions are provided by the licensed social workers and senior care experts, Erin Winsor Nicholson, MSW; Katherine Albrecht, MSW; and Gincy George, MSW.

Senior & adult backup care

Northwestern offers a subsidized, in-home senior and adult backup care program through CareBenefits, for when regular care for your senior and adult loved ones falls through or isn't available. This program allows faculty, staff, and postdocs to:

  • Find in-home adult and senior backup care, when regular care isn't available.
  • Utilize a subsidized rate of $6/hour, up to 10 days per year.

Access vetted backup care providers by calling 855-781-1303 X 2 or login to MyHR Benefits and access the CareBenefits portal to place your request online.
