Your Benefits Explained: Understanding Your Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
SupportLinc is Northwestern’s Employee Assistance Program provider available to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and is separate from Northwestern’s health insurance plans. You do not need to be enrolled in a Northwestern health insurance plan to access the service. The EAP provides 24/7/365 free and confidential access to a variety of mental health and well-being services and resources.
SupportLinc is available to you and your household members including:
- children age 6 and older
- dependents up to age 26, whether they live with you or not
- other household family members and roommates
The program provides up to 10 free counseling sessions, per concern, per year. Northwestern covers the full cost of your participation unless you need additional assistance, and your participation is 100% confidential. Whether you need help managing mental health concerns, navigating a personal challenge, finding resources for family, legal or financial matters, you and your family can access in-the-moment support, counseling, expert consultations, and a variety of online tools so you can focus on what matters most.

- digital support groups and more
You can also receive referrals for childcare, elder care, pet care, home improvement, auto repair and more through their work life team.
