Important Reminder: 90-Day Refills Required for Certain Long-Term Medications

The following message was emailed on July 15, 2026 to employees directly affected by this announcement.

Dear Colleague,

Action may be required. Northwestern’s Prescription Drug Plan participates in the CVS Retail 90 Network. If you take certain long-term medicationsyour prescription must be filled in a 90‑day supply instead of a 30-day supply and must be filled at CVS, Walgreens, or through CVS home delivery (mail order). This requirement applies to your third refill of these long-term medications, that is, you may have two 30-day refills at any participating pharmacy before you transition to a 90-day prescription.

Take Action

If you have not yet transitioned to a 90-day supply, you have up to two grace refills after June 15. You may take action now and transition to the 90-day refill requirement. CVS will mail you a reminder letter (mailed to your home address) with information on how to locate a participating pharmacy. Choose a participating pharmacy location and contact the pharmacy directly to determine what is needed to transfer your prescription. This letter will be sent to you after your second 30-day refill.
